8. AUTOGRAPH HUNTERS

NEATH, Friday, March 3.

Inquiries made at Godre’r Coed to-day elicited the fact that Mr. Evan Roberts did not come down to breakfast with the family, but partook of that meal in his own room. Later he received a visit from the Misses Maggie and Mary Davies. An interesting conversation tool place, in the course of which Mr. Roberts described his experiences during his enforced silence. He is in cheerful spirits and in good health, and in reply to a message said that he had not entered into any new engagement, and had not decided when to leave Neath. He declined to see anybody in the morning outside the family and the persons named. On more than one occasion he cordially thanked them for their kind hospitality, and was apologetic for the trouble he had caused them. On the other hand, Mr. and Mrs Rhys Jones are only too glad to be the host of one whom they regard as God’s chosen servant.

The autograph-hunter has not been idle. There have been many callers, most of whom, it may be assumed, have sincere, but doubtless, there have been many who have sought a message from the evangelist with the view of adding to the contents of their albums. One man received a message, but it was a verbal one only, and it was: “May God bless you.” Mr. Roberts is, apparently, chary of giving written message to anyone, and many of the callers have to be content with a word of mouth message, and most with no answer at all. It is stated that money is being sent Mr. Roberts to defray the cost of a visit to Palestine.
